Anthelmintic drugs

الدوا دا شغال في ال Cestodes وال Nemadodes عشان كده هو broad spectrum benzimidazol anthelmintic 

وعشان يشتغل لازم يحصلة activation الأول بال first pass metabolism ويتحول ل  albendazole sulfoxide 

بالنسبة لل absorption بتاعة فهو أقل من 5% لكن مع ال  fatty meal النسبة دي ممكن تزيد up to 4-5 times

بالنسبة لاستخداماته فالدوا دا يعتبر ك 
 First choice in Hydatid disease  (Echinococcus Tapeworm) and Cysticercosis
زي ال Neurocysticercosis ودي بتحصل بسبب ان ال cyst بتاعة ال Taenia solium بتصيب ال brain 
والاستخدام دا لان ال Abendazole has larvicidal and ovicidal affects

Dose in Hydatid disease
>60 kg: 400 mg PO BID x 28 days, THEN 14 drug-free days x 3 cycles
<60 kg: 15 mg/kg/day divided BID PO, no more than 800 mg/day x 28 days, THEN 14 drug-free days x 3 cycles

Dose in Neurocysticercosis
>60 kg: 400 mg PO BID x 8-30 days
<60 kg: 15 mg/kg/day divided BID PO x 8-30 days; not to exceed 800 mg/day 

Common Adverse Effects
-Headache يفضل يتوصف بالليل عشان المشكله دي 
-Nausea/vomiting
-Abdominal pain
-Abnormal LFT ودي بتحصل في حالة ال long term use مع ال Hydatid disease ، لان في الحاله دي ممكن يستخدم لفتره تصل 3 شهور 

Pregnancy  ممنوع استخدامه في الحمل، إلا في حالة واحده وهي لو ال Benefits outweighs risk
